Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas
Aelin Galathynius, once known as the assassin Celaena Sardothien, is back in the empire, seeking vengeance and the restoration of her kingdom. As the Queen of Terrasen, she embraces her identity but faces a series of battles before reclaiming her throne. Determined to fight for her cousin, her friend held captive, and her oppressed people, Aelin takes on the challenge to confront the shadows of her past and secure her triumphant return.
Sarah J. Maas's commitment to the world in her books is truly commendable. With each installment, the story has blossomed into a grander scale, capturing my imagination in new ways. The evolution of the series and the expansion of the world, extending far beyond the little one-kingdom scope we glimpsed in Throne of Glass, is simply impressive. Maas's captivating worlds knows no bounds, limited only by the vastness of her boundless imagination.
Between the deftness she demonstrates with the introduction of new characters, and the incorporation and growth she allows for the existing characters, Maas handles high fantasy like an old pro. As I continue with my reread of this series, I'm beyond thrilled to have a big fantasy world like this back in my rotation.
